Panic Attacks On A Plane

Flying panic attacks mid-air can be dealt with by self taught techniques. You can manage panic attacks without anyone even knowing you are having them. There are many different forms of anxiety reducers you can teach yourself to be able to use.

If you are on a plain and your anxiety starts to act up you can use breathing techniques to calm yourself down and cure your flying phobia before it really starts. When people have anxiety problems they can hyperventilate very easily. Natural breathing is achieved by breathing in slowly taking a full breath to fill your lungs, Then breathe out slowly. Repeat these steps until you feel yourself to be calmer. When you breath quick taking in little amounts of air your body doesn’t obtain enough oxygen causing a person to hyperventilate.

Calming a persons anxiety as easily as turning on the vent above their head in their seat. They just need to adjust the vent so that the air is blowing into their face and close their eyes and breath in the cool fresh air until they feel calmer and relaxed again.

Anxiety can be reduced by taking some things on the plane to occupy your time and mind during your flight. People can bring along puzzles to put together, magazines or books to read to keep them busy until the flight is over.

A lot of the different airlines may even offer passengers a movie or headphones to listen to music that will keep their mind off what causes them to have anxiety and a movie or music with headphones won’t intrude on other passengers around them either. Adults as well as children can use these techniques to keep them busy and occupied their time and minds throughout their flight.

Besides if your child is occupied during the flight it will be more relaxing to you and the other passengers won’t be irritated by being on a flight with children.

Your diet before going on a flight can also help reduce your anxiety level to. You can start be reducing the level of caffeine you consume prior to a flight so you may be calmer depending on the level of caffeine you consume on a regular basis.

Make sure you drink a lot of water or juice whether you are thirsty or not because some people can become dehydrated from the dry air in the higher altitude levels. Another good idea may be to refrain from drinking any forms of alcohol before or during a flight as the effects of alcohol tends to be higher in the higher altitude because the lower oxygen levels. If you can start out before the flight trying to be calm it can also aide in not having so much anxiety during your flight.
